Happy almost 16th Birthday, Ro.

To celebrate Ronan’s 16th Birthday, we have decided to make a generous donation to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in conjunction with Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Philadelphia. Our contribution will establish the Ronan Thompson Nurse Navigator Fund at the CHOP Cancer Center.

The Cancer Center at CHOP is renowned for its team of internationally recognized pediatric oncologists who specialize in treating all types of pediatric cancer. Every day, CHOP provides exceptional patient care, and the Nurse Navigators play a crucial role in supporting patients and their families as they navigate the complexities of cancer care. With deep knowledge of care systems, they provide unparalleled clinical and emotional support to families. By supporting the navigator program, we will be able to provide these wonderful medical professionals with the resources and protected time they need to offer extraordinary care. The Nurse Navigators are the backbone of the patient journey, spending 50% of their time helping families navigate necessary care and the remaining 50% at the patient’s bedside.

May 12th is a day to celebrate the life of Ronan. On this day, let us honor his memory by embodying the qualities that he held dear: bravery, adventure, laughter and love. As we go about our day, let us embrace our inner wild child and let our spirits soar. Let’s be spontaneous, daring, and unapologetically ourselves. Let us not ignore the struggles and hardships of those around us. Let us extend kindness to those who are hurting and lend support to those who are in need. Let us be a source of comfort in a world that can often be harsh and unforgiving. Take a moment to appreciate the simple moments in life, even amidst the chaos and turmoil.

In the spirit of Ronan, let’s take time to appreciate the simple pleasures in life, like playing outside and getting muddy, jumping in puddles, and losing ourselves in the beauty of nature, music, and books. Wear purple, have a dance party covered in glitter, be the most sparkly version of yourself. Let’s stay true to our hearts and continue to chase our dreams, no matter how big they may seem. Let us take time to be still and reflect on what really matters in life. Use this day as a reminder to live our lives with purpose and meaning, and to make a positive impact on the world around us. Above all, let’s make this day a celebration of love and kindness. Let’s uplift others with our words and actions and create a ripple effect of goodness in the world.

Your continued support in raising awareness and funds for childhood cancer research is not just a gift to our family, but to all the children and families who are affected by this devastating disease. Your commitment to this cause is a testament to your compassion and humanity, and we are honored to have you by our side in this fight.

As Ronan’s mom, I cannot express enough how much your support means to me. It is a reminder that we are not alone in this journey, and that there are still good people in the world who are willing to stand with us in the face of tragedy. Thank you, from the bottom of my forever-broken heart, for your love and kindness. It will never be forgotten.
