I couldn’t have said it better myself…

A girl whom I’ve never met, Jennifer, posted this on my FB wall:

I’ve gone to the book store and seen a pink Bible. I’ve gone to the grocery store and seen pink reusable shopping bags. Pink yogurt lids. Pink ribbons on chip bags, ways to donate by buying certain items. I’ve seen pink on TV, heard it on the radio, seen it in my email and had it thrust in my face at almost every retailer. Don’t get me wrong, I want to take NOTHING from breast cancer sufferers and survivors. I know they worked hard to get where they are. I just want the same for the children that are also fighting. They need us too. Even more, their voices are smaller and their hearts are bigger.

    I so totally agree! I don’t have a problem with the pink but how do we start a program for children with cancer?????
    If anyone know about a program for kids …sign me up!!!
    I read your blog everyday and many time I have wanted to comment.
    I am praying for you and your family everyday!!!
    Some day I would love to meet you all.

    Maya, I wouldn’t take anything from breast cancer either as I am a breast cancer survivor like Mimi Kay is. And I know that PINK is everywhere, it makes your cause seem insignificant. It is not. Read Nancy Brinker’s book, “Promise Me” and you will be inspired to follow in her footsteps, her tenacity, her passion to fight for something that is effecting you, your darling, beautiful boy and your family. It takes time to acheive awareness, recognition and advocacy for this cancer that affects so many children. You have that passion, tenacity and awareness to do this. Get your boy well then go out there and make it happen…it will become a reality for all of you.

    I agree 300%! I thought the same thing walking through Walmart yesterday. We have to be a voice for these beautiful babies.

    Maya, (and all of you out there wanting to help these children Rally to find a cure for Childhood Cancer!!!)

    I would love to connect you with Dean Crowe, the founder…and get Ronan set up as a Rally Kid—-trying to help raise money for neuroblastoma . (you know how underfunded that specific type of cancer research is, don’t you?) Things have improved over the past 10 years, but we have such a long way to go to help all kids with cancer.

    I agree. balance would be very nice since breast cancer isn’t the only kind out there. What you are doing by putting Ronan’s cause out there is amazing.
